The Importance of investors to a filmmaker
My film “Going to seed” was paid out of pocket. Because of the 2008 U.S. Federal Credit Union Excellence Award, awarded to the best film at MCTC that year, I was able to fund almost half the cost of producing “Strays.”  Without that funding, “Strays” would not have been possible.

The experiences and exposure offered not only myself, but the cast and crew of both films has been invaluable. I’d like to think, forming us to be the future leaders locally, if not nationally, in our fields.

The Importance of Art to a Community
Freelancing and bartering seems to be the best, if not only avenue to work in and hone the filmmaking craft here in the Twin Cities. Once out of school, grants are a god send- but can only be offered to a very limited group of recipients every year. From there, a filmmaker must go looking for donors and patrons to continue to their work in the film arts.
