A Note on the script: “A parody of worth” came out of a sit down after “Going to seed” played at Cinema Lounge at Bryant Lake Bowl in March. Paul, Katrina and I were talking about working together again and they gave me the parameters for the story. Many drafts later, we have our script…
“A parody of worth” Cast:
Paul Cram : Nolan Rye
I auditioned Paul for a student project many years ago. He was incredible, natural, and insanely subtle. Shortly there after I wrote the “Alfie” character for him in “Going to seed.” He had no knowledge of the script and I approached him a few months before production, hoping he’d remember me and have some interest in the project.
Low and behold he was more than interested and gave me an incredible experience and performance in my first film.
I look forward to building the layers of the “sell out” photographer Nolan, with Paul. I’m sure it’s going to be incredible.
Katrina Hawley : Dianne Vosko-White
I grew up with Katrina in the north woods. We met the semester we were both acting in our schools “Taming of the shrew.” (Also when I realized my acting is garbage.) When we both ended up in the Twin Cities, after years of separation for school and travel, the prospect of working together made sense. She starred in my film “Crushed in D-minor” and was perfect as Semele in “Going to seed.”
I look forward to creating the razor tongued Dianne character with her as it’s a departure from what we’ve done before. It’s a great opportunity to show our versatility and brutal view of art and love.
Characters to be cast:
Nettie, a quadrapelegic who paints flowers with her teeth
Jesse, an artists assistant
“A parody of worth” Crew:
Brianna Deihl : Director
I came to filmmaking through writing. Raised in northern Minnesota, I’ve always had to rely on my own resources to entertain myself. I would fill notebooks with self-indulgent fantasy stories about kissing boys and wearing the most exotic dresses I could imagine. This transferred info a desire to make movies as I am incredibly visual and easily enamored by the escapism of cinema.
In many ways my work is about the conflict between “want” and “need.” These states are usually so contradictory and cause so much dissonance in my life that exploring the push/pull and the cause/effect of life decisions fascinates me.
